Dilophosaurus Coloring Page
You guys might want to get your time machines ready because we’re about to dive deep into the past to discuss a fascinating dinosaur known as Dilophosaurus.
Dilophosaurus was one of the many impressive dinosaurs that stomped the Earth almost 200 million years ago during the early Jurassic period.
The name Dilophosaurus might sound like a mouthful, but it really just means ‘double-crested lizard’, named for the two fancy crests on top of its head.
This dinosaur was huge – similar to a big car, like a pickup truck, in size and measuring about 20 feet long, 10 feet tall.
What makes the Dilophosaurus stand out from other dinosaurs was its two unique, semi-circular crests on the head.
These crests were probably used to attract mates, and aren’t believed to have been used for fighting or defense.
While the Dilophosaurus was a meat eater who likely feasted on smaller dinosaurs and early mammal relatives, don’t worry too much.
Unlike in the movies, there’s no proof to suggest that the Dilophosaurus spat venom or had a frill around its neck.
But no one can deny that this cool dinosaur with dual crests, big size, and an interesting name makes an awesome addition to our history!
