Sleeping is something we all do each day.
It is a natural state that our body goes into when we need to rest and recharge.
People believe sleeping started right from when life began, many many years ago. Every living creature, from the tiniest bug to the biggest whale, must sleep to stay healthy and survive.
Each night when you close your eyes and drift off, your body goes to work.
It repairs muscles, stores memories, and gets you ready for a new day of learning and adventures.
There are different stages to sleep too.
Light sleep is when you are just dozing off, deep sleep is when you dream and your brain sorts out all the things you learnt that day, and there’s also a stage called REM sleep when you dream the most!
Although scientists know a lot about sleep, there is still so much more to learn.
Even though sleeping might seem boring because you’re not doing anything, remember that it’s very important for your health and learning, just like eating healthy food and exercising.
