A Sword and Shield are two items that knights or warriors used a long time ago in battles.
A sword is a pointy weapon that is long, thin and sharp and a shield is a large piece of strong metal that the knights used to protect themselves from attacks.
The sword originated in the Bronze Age, about 5,000 years ago from now, when people figured out how to shape metal into a weapon.
Just like the sword, the shield also comes from the Bronze Age, invented as a defence tool against the dangers of the ancient world.
The sword was most commonly used for attacking the enemy and it was so sharp that it could cut through anything on its way.
On the other hand, the shield was used to block any incoming attacks, like arrows or enemy swords.
Swords are strong, sharp and lightweight, perfect for a quick attack, but they need skill and bravery to be used properly.
Shields, although heavier, are incredibly tough and can absorb a lot of damage, serving like a personal wall for the warrior.
So remember, in the old days knights used a sword and a shield as their own offensive and defensive buddy, and long before video games made them cool, they were real tools in ancient battles!
